Statement issued by Minister Rodney Muhammad NAACP President Philadelphia
The NAACP was saddened to hear that Julian Bond long time Civil Rights champion has passed. His career in our struggle for freedom began with the Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee to ultimately Chair of the oldest Civil Rights organization in the country the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) national board.
He will be greatly missed and the legacy of his deeds and unfailing service to the cause of civil rights never forgotten. The Philadelphia Branch of the NAACP offers to his wife and family our condolence and may we work on in honor of all his efforts for a better society.
